I love the title of this. When you eat/do/say anything that is not the 'norm' people will have something to say. I was eating dried mango slices and this girl frowned up her face. I asked, "Have you tried them?" she said, "Oh uh uh, that look nasty. I can't get wit that bougie stuff." Um...ok. Dried mangos are bougie? I'm done. You keep eating what you want girl. People are a trip.

YES! I'm all for exposing other's to things they haven't experienced before, if they're open and respectful. One comment I really hate is 'I Could NEVER eat anything like that!'. I just want to yell, if this was the last meal you could ever eat for the rest of your existence, you'd love it. LOL

I hardly "meet" anyone of Antiguan descent. My G-Grandma is antiguan, but don't begin to ask me specifics. She never talked about her childhood for some reason.

OMG! I'm flatlining! This is hilarious, but I totally feel you. People can be so disrespectful about the unknown! I'm from the Caribbean (Antiguan) and I've gotten tons of weird questions about food and other cultural things. People are curious. I don't mind answering questions if you are genuinely interested. But there's a big difference between "ewww wth is that?" AND "what is that?" "what's in it?", "how do you prepare that?" etc.
